May 2010 User group meeting notes.

18 06 2010

May  SLUG meeting  was all about “Big and Small”.  Attendees Brought with them various Linux powered Netbooks, all of which much smaller than the contents of their dinner plates that the Station Inn has become famous for! The night was dedicated to the discussion of the various problems that diminutive Netbooks have in running full Linux distributions.

Dave Maydew’s Acer Aspire One, formed the catalyst for constructive problem solving .

BTW The issue of WIFI support on the newer Acer Aspire One is now cured with a Kernel upgrade to 2.6.32 or higher where the support for the low power PHY on the new WIFI is introduced, thus saving backporting support from the Broadcom Support Tree.
